A warm welcome to all from Boris, Vesna and Family

From earliest childhood into today, everything in our lives is connected with - the piano. Piano is what connected the two of us, too. 33 years ago. The piano study was an important activity that helped the upbringing of our both children, now adults with multiple Academic credentials that we are so proud of!

Vesna and I feel so very fortunate to have studied with truly fascinating teachers and artists, in the past. In addition, this beautiful piano and music life journey has connected us with a long list of World-renowned artists and educators providing invaluable, just incredible additional input and inspiration.

We very much enjoy sharing it all with our amazing students. Teaching, in our view, shall be an enjoyable exchange; an opportunity for providing positive input, and encouragement, helping students develop musical freedom, pride and appreciation for this gorgeous gift of music-making that we are fortunate to enjoy and share.

Our Studio setting and atmosphere is a reflection of our love for what we do, wishing to create an inspiring, motivating music-learning environment...Thank you for being a part of it all!

Much more is ahead - looking forward to continuing our piano journey - Welcome to Clarkson Piano!

Learning how to play even a simple song on a piano, in short, involves the following:

A symbol recognition, understanding; information synthesis and processing with practical application/execution using the keyboard. This process often described as "demanding timed multitasking" transforms the "cluster of symbols" (musical notation) into a "finished project" (composition, song) via a complex process that involves manual-to-brain and multi-sensory coordination, requiring and developing the timing, sensitivity and fine motor skills; followed by the technical mastery and memorization, and leading to a live presentation

(i. e recital or exam performance of the learned song).

Or as summarized in the Journal of Neuroscience: "Learning to play a musical instrument requires complex multimodal skills involving the simultaneous perception of several sensory modalities: auditory, visual, somatosensory, as well as the motor system". more

Study of PIANO is considered to be one of the most comprehensive, if not the most comprehensive educational tools and is rather challenging yet incredibly beneficial educational experience that builds more then piano playing skills: piano lessons build skills for life!

A small sample from the large pool of scientific evidence on the value of music education:

At the University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco, the research conducted by Dr. Frank Wilson shows that instrumental practice enhances coordination, concentration and memory and delivers a significant improvement in eyesight and hearing.

His studies have shown that involvement in music connects and develops the motor systems of the brain, refining the entire neurological system in ways that cannot be done by any other activity.

Dr. Wilson goes so far as to say he believes "music instruction is actually necessary for the total development of the brain".

Longer they study, better the benefits:

Piano lessons produce significant non-musical benefits:

  • intellectual
  • academic
  • behavioural
  • social
  • health benefits

Does it all come at once?

While even a year or two of piano study makes a difference, all these positive attributes affect and shine over the years of consistent study in a supportive environment. Contrary to that which is taught to our children by our "touch-screen" society, the most worthwhile accomplishments in life take months, years of concentrated effort. The effort that pays off.

"Without MUSIC LIFE would be a mistake."

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

Clarkson Piano Lessons: For Success in Music and in Life!

Our students are welcomed with our friendly, fun, positive and considerate teaching approach. Yet, let's be frank: Piano study is not the easiest extracurricular activity but is a rather complex, comprehensive and interactive process which...

  • requires and improves perseverance, self-discipline, concentration, problem-solving, attention, aesthetic perception;
  • teaches and develops patience, the laws of particles, learning strategies;
  • builds creativity, poise, self-confidence, self-esteem, coordination and self-efficacy.
